MILWAUKEE - Dog lovers in the central city now have a place to take their dogs for off-the-leash fun. Owners call it a dogs home away from home.
It's the Barking Lot - located at 5000 North 35th Street. Ray Dahms loves working with the animals. He notes, "It's really a real good learning experience. Dogs teaching other dogs how to be social with each other, how to be polite."
He adds, "We just observe them in their natural play."
The Barking Lot offers daycare and boarding for all canines - from mutts to pitbulls. Dahms believes that some of the so called "bully breeds" are pegged unfairly. He explains, "It's easy to hear the negative side of the bully. You never hear that a pit bull owner comes home and the pit bull kisses the owner for 15 minutes straight!"
The staff of the Barking Lot want to raise awareness about the proper treatment of animals. Those with rescue of foster dogs can get a discount.
The philosophy of the Barking Lot is that every dog deserves a safe, fun environment outside the home.
