MENOMONEE FALLS - After 15 years, this Waukesha County family restaurant has changed its name and menu, but the health department found some problems during its last visit.
It's Cafe Agora on Appleton Avenue in Menomonee Falls. The inspector saw an employee handle toast with bare hands - a cross contamination risk with food that's ready to eat.
The owner didn't want to talk on camera and asked us to turn it off. She did talk off-camera about the restaurant's temperature issues. Soup, sausage and fruit were all running too warm. The owner says the coolers just needed adjusting.
There were no expiration dates on prepared food; it has to be served within 7 days. And Cafe Agora had to do a little cleaning. A shelf where pans are stored, the meat slicer and some other kitchen surfaces.
The owner tells us all problems have been corrected, and they clean every day. She added, they work closely with the health department to educate employees.
