MILWAUKEE - A Chinese spot we've visited before now has more violations.
China Taste is on 27th and Wisconsin, and the lunch customers were not happy to see us. The restaurant has had food temperature problems, including Egg Foo Young not kept warm enough. Also, several pans of cooked rice and fried rice were left sitting out at room temp.
There was no soap at the sink in the employee ladies' restroom, and cardboard boxes were being re-used to store food. We left a message for the owner with questions about meat stored uncovered in a freezer. An employee's cell phone and keys were also seen sitting on a slicer in the kitchen, and clean pans and "in-use" pans were left sitting on top of dirty cloth towels.
Dirty Dining was first at China Taste in 2007. Since 2008, half of China Taste's inspection reports have had violations.
Also having problems in the kitchen this week is Junior's Frozen Custard on Milwaukee's West Side. This spot was fined for violations like hand washing issues and having no expiration dates on prepared food.
Keeping things clean are Hotch-A-Do, a cafe and bar on Milwaukee's East Side, and downtown Waukesha restaurant Key Westconsin.
The owner of China Taste never returned our phone calls.
