MILWAUKEE- Authentic Mexican or an eclectic menu choice at a cozy spot downtown: Both are keeping things clean for customers.
Here are those Blue Ribbon Award winners.
Botanas on 5th Street just off National is a family-owned restaurant that makes a lot of its dishes based on tradition, and everything is fresh.
"Everything is made daily," owner Jaime Gonzalez is very proud of his staff and the job they do. Gonzalez tries to make cleaning, second nature. "I'm on right behind their tail every day. They don't want me on their tail which is why they do a good job." For more than one clean health inspection in a row Botanas gets our first Blue Ribbon Award.
Downtown now at the corner of Cass and Wells and another family owned business.
"It's me, my dad, my brother my mom does the desserts," Britt Buckley tells us. He's one of the owners of Buckley's Restaurant and Bar. A quaint spot with an interesting menu. "Eclectic, contemporary cuisine," is what Britt calls it.
And Buckley's has a clean kitchen, something Britt says takes a lot of diligence. "Clean up before you, clean up behind you. Just try to keep everything as clean as possible. It helps you work faster and helps put out a better product." For its clean health inspection Buckley's gets our second Blue Ribbon Award.
