MILWAUKEE- A popular Chinese spot on the northwest side written up for repeat violations. Here's what they were doing wrong in the kitchen.

No. 1 Chinese Restaurant on 75th and Appleton. Inspectors found a pan of raw meat thawing on top of containers of vegetables. That's a cross contamination risk and something this restaurant's been written up for in the past.

No expiration dates on prepared food. Things like cooked pork, chicken, and egg rolls. Potentially hazardous food has a shelf life of 7 days. This is another repeat violation. I talked to the owner's daughter by phone; she claims they don't keep food more than a few days.

No. 1 Chinese was also written up for using heavily grooved and stained cutting boards. Again, a repeat violation. Dirty wiping cloths stored on most counters instead of in sanitizer. And our camera caught eggs sitting out by the cook line. Also, a cooler running too warm at 46 degrees. The safe cold temperature is 41 degrees.

The owner claims they were inspected during a busy time and insists they always clean things up. No. 1 Chinese was fined for its violations.
