Energy assistance still available
MILWAUKEE - Are you having difficulty paying for heat or electricity?
It may not be too late to apply for energy assistance.
If you or someone you know is having difficulty paying for heat or electricity, do not wait to ask for help.
There are a number of programs including the wisconsin home energy assistance program that can provide help with heat and electric costs, as well as programs for energy crisis situations and weatherization programs.
Even if you do not qualify for other assistance programs, you may qualify for energy assistance because eligibility is based on 60 percent the state medium income guideline.
A family of four earning less than $46,60o per year could be eligible for assistance.
The deadline for applying for energy assistance for this heating season is may 15th, but it is important that you apply as soon as possible.
For more information about this or other programs, contact home energy plus.Wi.Gov, or 1-866-heatwis.
If you find that you do not qualify for energy assistance, contact your heat or electric provider and ask about other programs or options such as budget billing, time of use plans, or other programs that can help to reduce your energy costs.
