MILWAUKEE – Police in Chicago found the body of Erin Ziemendorf, 30, of West Allis, in the back of a car Sunday night. Authorities found a car with Wisconsin plates near a bus station and made the discovery.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirms Ziemendorf’s death was the result of ‘blunt neck trauma’ suffered during an assault.
Sources close to the investigation tell TODAY’S TMJ4 the woman’s boyfriend, Matthew McDowell, of Kenosha, is in custody in connection with the crime.
Sunday night and into Monday, Kenosha Police cordoned off McDowell’s apartment with crime scene tape. Police report that McDowell admitted to the crime.
Ziemendorf’s family maintains McDowell had been dating Ziemendorf for about a year and a half.
