Wis. Assembly to take up speed limit bill
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Assembly is set to consider a bill that would raise the speed limit on Wisconsin interstates.
The Republican measure would raise the current 65 mph limit to 70 mph. The proposal also would require state transportation officials to submit a study on the feasibility of raising the limit to 70 on other four-lane highways to the Legislature within a year.
The Assembly is set to vote on the bill Tuesday afternoon. Republicans control the chamber, making passage all but certain.
Approval would send the bill on to the state Senate.
