Police ID teens involved in fatal Kewaskum crash with deputy

By Michele Fiore and Shannon Sims. CREATED Jun 18, 2014 - UPDATED: Jun 19, 2014

KEWASKUM - The healing has started at Kewaskum High School where Brent Schultz and Travis Trapp would've returned to school this fall.  Grief counselors met with students Thursday and plan to be back at it from 8a to 1p Friday.

One of the last photos taken of Brent Schultz was captured by the local paper. Earlier this month, the teen was honored for being an officer of the Future Farmers of America. Travis Trapp was also an F.F.A. officer.

"I have seen Travis and Brent grow up to be young men and obviously defined faith as loving their savior and loving other human beings," said Associate Pastor Troy Swenson with St. Lucas Lutheran Church.

Schultz graduated eighth grade from St. Lucas where he captured the hearts of his fellow students with his sense of humor. His principal nicknamed him, "Gibby."

"Definitely a well loved kid, had a passion for allowing others to enjoy life and got them to laugh about things," said Swenson.

Trapp and Schultz became buddies in high school, seen in this yearbook photo of the F.F.A. side by side.  The two also died side by side, Wednesday in this Ford Taurus. The car hit an oncoming squad car on Highway H near Kettle Morraine Drive.

"Our prayers are with the families right now. I know they're going through a lot and are wrestling with this, and yet, like we remind everyone, and Travis and Brent would've, that the lord will see us through this," said Swenson.
