Tracking the Pack - Episode 1: Issues Packers face as they start camp
Lance Allan and Larry McCarren with Jay Sorgi
GREEN BAY - Training camp is about to begin in Green Bay, and our Packers team breaks down the key issues the team faces as they enter the 2013.
Among the points Lance Allan and former Packers center Larry McCarren addressed:
- Three starting positions up for grabs, on the offensive line, safety and cornerback
- The tone Mike McCarthy wants to preach to the team.
"Mike doesn't seem to want to talk about it, but the question about the Packers being physical enough...he wants to establish some of that," said Larry.
"That's sticking in Mike's craw."
- The run defense that failed the Packers in the 2012 playoffs.
"You get what you really emphasize, and the first thing the defense did during OTA's is they lined up against the 'Pistol' formation, a la Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers," said Larry.
- The possible return of Johnny Jolly.
"Johnny is kind of a wildcard. I really couldn't get a handle if Jolly still has that burst...that quick first step, that explosiveness."
