MILWAUKEE - Police are investigating three shootings that occurred overnight, one leaving a man dead.
Milwaukee Police were called to an armed robbery around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of W. Concordia. The victim told police she was walking when three suspects came up to her and demanded property. One of suspects then shot her, and she was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The three suspects later approached four other men in a car and attempted to rob them.
The suspects fled and police have not yet released any other description.
Another shooting occurred at 1:30 a.m. A police officer was in the 900 block of S. Ceser Chavez when he heard gunshots, and found a 27-year-old man lying on the sidewalk. The man had been shot, and later died from his injuries.
The third shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of N. 24th Place. The two victims were sitting in a vehicle when the suspect approached them and started shooting into the vehicle, hitting both of them. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Last week, Mayor Barrett approved overtime for the police force to help stop the violence. Rep. John Richards said he will introduced a bill that would provide an additional $500,000 in matching funds to boost city policing in Milwaukee.
