Taylor County deputy shot released from hospital
WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- The Taylor County sheriff's deputy shot while questioning a suspect last week has been released from the hospital.
Sheriff's officials say Deputy Chad Kowalczyk was released from Aspirus Wausau Hospital Sunday. WEAU-TV reports law enforcement officers from Taylor and Chippewa counties, Stanley and Thorpe were among those who escorted the deputy to his parents' house in Boyd.
Taylor County sheriff's officials say the deputy, shot on Sept. 8, still has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
The man accused of shooting the deputy, Alexander Schneider, is being held on $1 million cash bond.
