SHEBOYGAN - A father has been charged with child neglect after his young son with autism was found wandering the streets in Sheboygan.
John Dahlke told police he went out drinking last Friday night with his wife and left his teenage daughter to watch the kids.
The 3-year-old was discovered the next morning two blocks away in nothing but a dirty diaper.
Officers asked neighbor Joseph Brown to come to their squad car to help identify the boy.
"I got there they were changing his diaper, it was pure soaked and wet." Brown said.
The neighbor helped lead police to the boy's parents.
The criminal complaint states the home was filthy and the floor was littered with dirty diapers.
The child's mother said she didn't know how her son got outside.
Dahlke could face 18 months behind bars if he's found guilty.
