Shawano County assesses storm damage
SHAWANO, Wis. (AP) -- Emergency management officials are assessing property damage after a strong thunderstorm moved through Shawano County and communities to the north.
Authorities say about a dozen homes in the Bonduel area sustained damage during Wednesday's severe weather. There are no reports of any injuries associated with the storm.
Public works employees are working to clear area roads of debris. Wisconsin Public Service says about 2,700 customers are without service, which may not be restored until Thursday afternoon.
WBAY-TV says about 24,000 WPS and We Energies customers lost service at the peak of the storm. One of the larger outages occurred in the Eagle River area, where nearly 5,000 customers lost power.
