Sanders makes statement about alleged bar fight in downtown Milwaukee

By Jay Sorgi. CREATED Nov 8, 2013

Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders spent part of Friday afternoon apologizing to the public and to his team about his alleged involvement in a bar fight in downtown Milwaukee early Sunday morning.

He made this statement about it Friday.  (Video)

"I put myself in a bad situation over the weekend, didn't make the best decision down the stretch.  I'd like to apologize to my fans, Senator Kohl who I will talk to directly.  I've talked to the team and apologized to them, just (about) shedding a negative light on our team, on our organization.  It's not what we're about at all.  It's not who we are, not who we stand for.  I offer my apologies to everyone, epsecially the fans.  I know they put a lot on me and count on me a lot.  Frankly, I let (them) down.  I'm going to get better, be better, be better at this on and off the court.  I'll come back beter.  I thank everyone for their concerns and being patient with me."

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's office said they would not charge Sanders for the incident.

Sanders did not practice Friday due to his thumb injury.

The Bucks' next game comes Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center against the Dallas Mavericks.  Coverage starts at 7:10 p.m. on 620WTMJ.
