Rodgers: Tolzien 'can fit into this offense'

CREATED Nov. 18, 2013

GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers may be 0-2 in games with Scott Tolzien under center, but that didn't stop Aaron Rodgers from vouching for the young quarterback Monday evening.

Appearing on "Packers Live" with Larry McCarren, Rodgers had some praise for the former Badgers starter.

"A couple weeks ago he was on the practice squad," Rodgers explained. "I'm just really proud of him."

A few weeks ago, the Cleveland Browns offered Tolzien a position on their active roster, but Tolzien chose to stay in Green Bay. On Monday night, Rodgers revealed he may have been a part of that decision.

"[Tolzien] came to me a few weeks back and was asking about an opportunity that came up with another team. I said 'This is a good spot for you. I think you can fit into this offense. I think you're a talented guy.'"

Tolzien will have the opportunity to prove himself again this Sunday vs. the Minnesota Vikings.
