Pursuit of wrong way drunken driver leads to crash
MILWAUKEE - Sheriff's deputies were called Monday morning just after 2 a.m. for a report of a wrong-way driver who was apparently driving southbound on northbound I-794 at Oklahoma.
When a deputy finally spotted the car, it was traveling the wrong way down Pennsylvania Avenue around 2:16 a.m. The driver ignored the deputy's attempt to pull the car over.
"The driver, Jose Enrique Carattini-Alicea, age 21, of South Milwaukee, crashed into the woods near College Avenue and Lake Drive," according to Fran McLaughlin with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. "Squads from Cudahy and South Milwaukee also responded to the scene."
Carattini-Alicea fled into the woods, but was quickly found an arrested. His blood alcohol content was later found to be .15, nearly two times the legal limit to drive.
