Police search for suspects wanted in armed robberies, assaults
MILWAUKEE - Police are looking for two suspects they say may be involved in as many as four robberies and two sexual assaults in the last several weeks.
The first suspect is described as a 25-35-year-old black male, 5'8", last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark baggy pants. He is reportedly armed with a black handgun with a long nozzle.
The second suspect is allegedly a getaway driver, described as a black male with a thin face and shoulder-length dreadlocks. Police describe the getaway vehicle as dark blue or dark colored van.
Some locals fear when they’ll strike again.
“I’m very concerned because there are a lot of students down here, and any one of us could get in trouble,” says one area resident.
The latest incident came Sunday night, when a 44-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint and sexually assaulted near North Prospect Avenue and East Locust Street.
Police say that same suspects may be responsible for the armed robbery of a 24-year-old man and 24-year-old woman just two blocks to the east late Saturday night, at East Locust Street and North Downer Avenue.
That same suspects are also being investigated for two robberies and one sexual assault on July 12, all on the city's Upper East Side.
Police caution residents to be extra vigilant. They’re also asking people to be aware of their surroundings, and they advise people to not talk on the phone or text while they’re out walking.
“All of the officers in the area will have these sketches as well,” adds Inspector Carianne Yerkes. The officers will be on foot and in the squad cars.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Milwaukee Police.
