LAMBEAU FIELD - Curly's Pub announcing a Training Camp special today that also benefits local charities.
For the first time, will offer menu items created by the players themselves. The restaurant’s “player-created burgers” will be featured on the menu weekly, one at a time, through Sept. 7.
Players Ryan Pickett, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews, and Head Coach Mike McCarthy each have created a burger with Delaware North Companies Sportservice, the operator of Curly’s Pub. The players selected from a wide variety of ingredients, which were paired with Curly’s 1/2-pound burger and potato bun, and will be priced at $15. The burgers were named by the players who created them, and will come with a limited edition 5-by-7 inch photo of that player.
Additionally, 10 percent of the proceeds from each player’s burger sold will be donated to a charity of that player’s choice. The player or coach who sells out of his burger the quickest will receive an extra donation for his charity. Charities include The Mike McCarthy Family Foundation (McCarthy), The Ryan Pickett Foundation (Pickett), Young Life Green Bay (Nelson), The CM3 Charitable Fund (Matthews), The MACC Fund (Rodgers) and Helping Hands (Cobb).
The first burger, featured now through Aug. 2, is the “Mac Attack Burger” created by McCarthy, which is a 1/2-pound beef patty, topped with pepperoni, pepper jack cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapeno, mayo, spicy mustard and French fries. McCarthy says the design process for his burger was a group effort.
"Eat 'em. Eat as many as you can. It's for charity and it's competitive. I'm competing with a competitive group of guys, a little input from my family on the Mac Attack hamburger so it's an eclectic approach to a hamburger. I ate one. I thought it was excellent," the Packers Head Coach says.
Burgers to follow include Pickett’s “Big Grease Burger” (Aug. 3 to 9), Nelson’s “Jordy Nelson Burger” (Aug. 10 to 16), Cobb’s “Corn on the Cobb Burger” (Aug. 17 to 23), Rodgers’ “Aaron Rodgers Burger” (Aug. 24 to 29) and Matthews’ “ClayMaker” burger (Aug. 30 to Sept. 7).
