MILWAUKEE - The Navy Yard shootings triggered security concerns all over the nation's capitol, including at Reagan National Airport.
Flight departures were temporarily halted on orders of the Federal Aviation Administration. That meant about 30 flights including several to Milwaukee's General Mitchell International were delayed.
Passengers headed home to Wisconsin said security was tight. "You just noticed a lot more police officers in the area." said Rick Kielley.
The Oconomowoc man was in the District of Columbia on business. "We weren't sure how long they were going to shut the airport down for." he added.
The ground delay was lifted after about an hour. Passengers on flights to Milwaukee arrived around 30 minutes late.
