Navy Yard shooting brings back memories for Wisconsin Fort Hood victims
MILWAUKEE - The mass shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington DC Monday brought out unbelievable emotion in a mother from Sheboygan County. Lisa Pfund's daughter Amber Bahr was shot during the Fort Hood mass shooting in 2009.
Pfund knows what families of the victims are going through right now. "Hell, fear, sadness, disgust," she said.
The news brought all that back for Pfund too.
She's in touch with other victims of the Fort Hood shooting. "I know a lot of the victims, it brought it back for them too," she said.
The victims are a community on Facebook. Immediately, the comments started pouring in Monday.
"A lot of them have put the word out that they're there to talk to. They know what they're going through."
Pfund can't believe there's been another mass shooting at a military installation. Four years after the shooting at Fort Hood, she and her daughter are still dealing with the effects.
"To this day, I'm still learning things that she saw that day that she's never talked about." Pfund has never pushed her daughter for details about the day.
