GENESEE -- The family of missing teen Kathryn Staulbaum is overjoyed that she’s been found. An inspector who spoke on behalf of the family Saturday said they’re grateful for everyone’s help.

“Our desire is to return to our daily lives and some semblance of normalcy,” expressed Inspector Eric Severson, on behalf of her family.

For the last few days, they’ve been praying that she’d come home, and she did. She was reunited with them shortly aftermidnight. She was found alive and well Friday in Chicago.

We still don’t know why she was there - or how she got there.
Kathryn went missing Tuesday. She texted a friend and let them know that she’d missed the bus and instead would be riding her bike to school. But she never showed up.

Many in the community, like business owner Panos Assimakopoulos, were very worried. That’s why he decided to put up a missing persons flyer.

“If something happened to my kids, I hope the other people would do what I’m doing,” explained Assimakopoulos.

Inspector Severson did say that Kathryn left her house on her own. At this time, they don’t know who she had contact with.

“It’s important for everyone in our community to know that we are not looking for any person or persons involved in this event at this time,” added Inspector Severson.

This is an ongoing investigation. We do know that Kathryn spent most of the day resting with her family, and right now, the fact that she’s home, and is safe and sound, is really all that matters.
