Milwaukee takes new approach to keep workers in the city
MILWAUKEE - Leaders in the City of Milwaukee have passed a measure that would take away raises for workers who don't live in the city.
The Common Council has approved the plan and the mayor is expected to sign it.
It's a response to a new state law that does away with residency rules. Prior to the law, which took effect this summer, Milwaukee required workers to live in the city.
The new ordinance won't affect police of firefighters because those groups are still represented by unions.
