MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A man from Milwaukee has pleaded no contest in the hit-and-run death of a woman as she ran across a street last month.
Forty-eight-year-old Edwood Hastings entered his plea Wednesday to hit-and-run causing death, a felony. The court then found him guilty.
Thirty-two-year-old Andrea Barringer was leaving a cafe on the night of Aug. 11 with friends when she was struck and killed.
Witnesses say Hastings was speeding. Police found Hastings' car at his home the next morning, about the same time Hastings had turned himself in.
Barringer was an art therapy graduate student at Mount Mary University and had just gotten engaged.
Hastings has a prior conviction for hit and run. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports he faces up to 25 years in prison when he's sentenced Nov. 26.
