MILWAUKEE - There are coat drives and food drives for those in need, but one Milwaukee County supervisor is trying to outfit 500 school children with something many of us take for granted.
Socks are a small, but necessary, item that Supervisor Russell Stamper believes no child should be without.
“People don't realize you need a new pair of socks every day,” he said.
This is the second year the Milwaukee County supervisor have collected socks. This year the goal this year is 500 new pairs.
“We just want to make sure our children are prepared before it gets cold and that their feet are warm,” said Brittany Nash, a supporter.
Sunday afternoon, people donned in their Packers gear took timeout from the game to donate to the cause.
