MILWAUKEE – The FCC is considering a new proposal that would let passengers use their cell phones during flight.
If approved, passengers could only use them above 10,000 feet, and not during takeoff or landing. The ban is in effect because of potential interference with ground-based wireless systems that could affect airplane navigation. The FCC previously considered lifting the ban in late 2004, but terminated that proposal in 2007.
The FCC will begin discussing the new proposal in December.
