MILWAUKEE - "Go get em Harley-Davidson," said Willie G. Davidson as he, and his kids, Bill and Karen, overlook the balcony from the Harley Davidson musem to their adoring fans. Fame and notoriety has not gone to this family's head. The love fans have for them is reciprocated.
"We're not in a white ivory tower. We're out there with them, and we love it! We ride all the time," Willie G. said.
For this family, whose name is a brand most Americans would know, seeing more than 100,000 from all over the globe here to celebrate their machines is what life is all about.
"They are so emotional, so excited and having so much fun, and they make the comment Harley-Davidson has changed my life. It's amazing," said Bill Davidson.
If they do make it through the crowd unnoticed, it doesn't last long.
"I'll say 'Hi, I'm Karen Davidson' and they'll take a step back and say, 'really? a real Davidson?' It is nice to surprise them and share a conversation with them," said Karen Davidson.
They explain this anniversary celebration is all about riders.
"It's a passionate hobby/sport. We want to give back to the riders. That's what this is all about. This event, and this museum," said Willie G.
