Local protests as Congress prepares to vote on military action in Syria
MILWAKEE - Congress is reviewing a request from President Obama for a resolution allowing a military strike against Syria.
The Senate is expected to vote next week on the measure approving an effort that would last no more than 90 days. The president's administration claims Syria used chemical weapons to kill more than 1,400 civilians.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 10 to 7 on Wednesday to back the use of force.
A local protest is planned in milwaukee for Thursday afternoon against intervention in Syria. Peace Action Wisconsin will meet at 4:30 p.m. and rally on the Capitol Bridge.
