MILWAUKEE - Friends and family are mourning the loss of Jacari Maxwell.
The 8-year-old was struck and killed by a car near 12th and Keefe Sunday night.
Police say the boy was crossing the street when he was hit by an SUV.
One day later, dozens of people turned out to show their support for Maxwell's family and the little boy.
His Grandmother Katherine Dodd, couldn't hold back her tears at the site of where the fatal accident happened.
"This is so painful for me, that was my first grandson and he was killed right here." Dodd said.
Police say the driver is co-operating with investigators, but was driving on a suspended license. It's not clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
