Brother of Azana Spa shooting victim fights for gun control and domestic violence awareness

BROOKFIELD - Zina Haughon was one of the victims killed in the shooting at the Azana Spa in Brookfield on Oct. 21, 2012. Her brother helped plan Monday's anniversary vigil.

Elvin Daniel said he wants to celebrate the lives of the three women killed when people gather at city hall tonight. The past year has been very difficult, especially because of the mass shootings after the Azana tragedy.

“Every time the healing begins, we have another shooting,” Daniel explained. “We have to start all over again. You can't heal when it happens over and over again."

Daniel has spent the year pushing for universal background checks before someone can buy a gun. He will be going back to Washington, D.C. in a couple of weeks to continue his fight and lobby lawmakers again.

Domestic abuse spans all ages, races, and income levels. TODAY’S TMJ4 is joining the effort to "stop the violence."
