MILWAUKEE - A controversial dress code is popping up at some Bar Louie restaurants around the country.
A sign spotted at the company's Minneapolis location bans apparel like excessively baggy clothing, sports jersey's without a collar or long white T-shirts.
It's sparking a heated discussion on social media on whether the dress code is discriminatory.
Matt Freter has been to the chain's Water Street location. He has no problem with the rules.
"It's a private business and they have every right to make their own decisions as long as it's not extremely discriminatory." Freter said.
Others like Bertha White are outraged by the dress code.
"It's a restaurant so you go in there to eat, you don't worry about what you got on to wear." White said.
A manager at the Bar Louie in downtown Milwaukee wouldn't say if they have a dress code.
There are no visible signs posted.
She directed all questions to the company's corporate headquarters.
Calls for a statement on the issue from a spokesperson have not been returned.
