MILWAUKEE - Crews had to close lanes by the Zoo Interchange after a police chase involving a suspected bank robber which led to a hit-and-run crash involving a semi.
Three other vehicles also took on damage, though there was no initial word on whether the car in the chase struck them.
The crash, or series of crashes, happened at about 5:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. It led to the closure of the ramp from I-94 eastbound to U.S. 45 northbound which was re-opened at about 5:25 p.m., and to other lanes in the interchange.
Brookfield Police say that someone robbed the Tri-City Bank on the 15100 block of West Greenfield Avenue in Brookfield.
Police started chasing the suspect.
A spokesperson with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department tells 620WTMJ's Eric Grillaert that the suspect's car sideswiped a semi near the Zoo Interchange on U.S. 45. The suspect fled on foot, but was arrested.
Backups were found in all northbound lanes of U.S. 45/I-894 for miles.
According to Brookfield Police, no one was hurt in the incidents.
