WASHINGTON - An 11-year-old amateur chef from Wisconsin is talking about his meeting with the President and first lady of the United States.
"It was stupendous. They were really really nice to all of the kids," said Liam Kivirist.
Liam and his mom got an invitation to the White House along with 54 other kids as part of a contest that challenged kids between the ages of 8 to 12 to create healthy lunchtime recipes.
His recipe is Wisconsin Solar Chili, which includes unique ingredients like pumpkin and quinoa. He cooks it in a solar oven on the family's farm in Browntown, which is near Monroe.
The White House invited contest winners from each state to an official state dinner, which was actually a lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Obama both attended and met with the kids.
So does Liam think he may have a future in cooking?
"Cooking is a skill, it's not something that I want to pursue as a profession. It's something that I want to do for fun," Liam said.
Yes, he is 11.
