Damage sustained to the Milwaukee County Courthouse in weekend fire
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Courthouse has been closed all week due to a fire over the weekend.
Tune in to TODAY'S TMJ4 tonight to see the video of inside the courthouse, and scroll through the photos above.
The fire started Saturday afternoon in a large basement utility room with numerous electrical systems inside. It caused a power failure for a portion of downtown, including the responding fire station, which used a generator to open its garage doors and send trucks.
County Executive Chris Abele said, "[it's] hard to say right now" when the courthouse will be re-opened.
"I want to be really careful about setting any expectations there," Abele said.
The safety of the courthouse will be tested before employees are allowed back at work.
