MADISON - A man who escaped from a mental facility in the Madison area may be in Green Bay, according to police.
Graham Stowe was sentenced to 39 years after breaking his probation in a kidnapping case in 2007, according to WLUK-TV. He escaped from the Mendota Mental Health Facility Tuesday night.
Stowe kidnapped his girlfriend in 2004, and tied up her father and brother. They said he told them he was going to kill himself in front of them.
After the crime, he was admitted to the facility but later released. In 2007, he called the girlfriend, breaking his probation. He was then sentenced to almost four decades at the center.
Stowe's wife is in the Green Bay area but told WISC-TV that her husband wouldn't come near her, because he "wouldn't want to jeopardize anything that I have."
Police said they have assigned a detective to the case, but are not actively searching for Stowe.
