CUDAHY - A Veteran ran over by a car during a freak accident at a 4th of July parade is marching again this year.
Bradley Smith was carrying the American flag along with other members of his VFW Post in the Cudahy parade, when another Veteran driving his car behind him passed out.
The car lurched forward and hit Smith from behind. "The next thing I know, I'm laying on the pavement" said Smith. The entire incident was captured on cell phone video.
Smith's head hit the windshield and smashed it in. He was taken to the hospital along with the man driving the car, who was overcome by the 102 degree temperature on July 4th, 2012.
The Desert Storm Vet said he's still healing from his injuries, but he had no intentions on missing this year's Independence Day parade. "It was just that, an accident, nothing more, nothing less, it could have happened to anybody", said Smith.
