Parade-goers upset after Sheboygan Police clean up route overnight
SHEBOYGAN - The July 4th parade in Sheboygan is off to shaky start.
Overnight, police cleaned up some spots that parade goers had saved with chairs and blankets.
Folks spend a lot of time laying out their blankets, lawn chairs and whatever else they may need to enjoy the city's parade, on 8th and Michigan.
Police officers moved all the items overnight to the corner of the street.
A lieutenant with Sheboygan Police said there is a city ordinance that doesn’t allow people to leave their belongings unattended in public.
He said they worried about vandalism as well. Officers found a blanket that was being held down by cans of paint, and someone splattered the paint all over the street.
People who are staying with their stuff are okay, but officers warned them not to leave.
People can come anytime to set up for Thursday's parade.
