GREEN BAY - The City of Green Bay has plans to buy "The Body Shop," a strip club on the corner of Monroe and Main Street.
Mayor Jim Schmitt says the owner of the club was looking to sell, and the city took the opportunity to buy it with the intention to tear it down. The common council approved the purchase at Tuesday's meeting.
The move is part of the city's plan to "clean up" the downtown area. Mayor Schmitt says he will not grant any other permit requests for strip clubs.
In other city council news, Alderman David Boyce proposed a plan to ban "baggy pants" in the downtown of Green Bay.
