Attorney: Potawatomi Casino suspect didn't commit shooting

By Todd Hicks. CREATED Jun 20, 2013 - UPDATED: Jun 20, 2013

MILWAUKEE - The attorney for the 27-year-old man suspected of opening fire inside the Potawatomi Casino said his client didn't do it.

We are not naming the man from Wauwatosa because he has not been charged.

He was released from jail Thursday morning. He posted bail in an unrelated case.

Robert D'Arruda said his client was a victim in the shooting and not the one who was in possession of the gun.

"He was attacked by a group of individuals and those individuals are the ones that brandished the gun that led to the shooting." D'Arruda said of his client Thursday.

The attorney said he's confident the casino's state-of-the-art video surveillance system will back up his claims.

Prosecutors say they are still reviewing the circumstances and charges could still be filed.
