DELAVAN - The reward has been raised to $8,000 in the effort to find whoever beat and killed a turtle with a club on a golf course in Walworth County.
A snapping turtle died after it was found bloody and beaten, with a cracked shell at Delbrook Golf Course back on June 10.
The Global Conservation Group in Watertown offered a $3,000 reward for any information which would lead to the arrest and conviction of whoever attacked the turtle.
PETA added $5,000 to that reward.
People can contact the Wisconsin DNR Tip Line at 1-800-TIPWDNR with any information.
Wildlife officials say the eggs were already laid in the sand at the golf course before the attack.
They’ve alerted the DNR to be aware of eggs hatching between 30 and 90 days.
