MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee is hardly just another stop on the tour for father of five Jim Gaffigan.
The comedian spoke to fans and signed his new release “Dad is Fat' at Boswell Books. This is just a few blocks from the east side home where Gaffigan's wife and creative partner Jeannie grew up.
Much of Jim Gaffigan's comedy is based on being a dad.
“After the third kid, people stop congratulating you,” he said. “Then, they just treat you like you're Amish.”
Gaffigan and his wife have surpassed that though, and now have five children.
“Five [kids],” he said. “Well, I haven't talked to Jeannie in like an hour, so we might have six. I don't know. They keep multiplying.
But he is perhaps best known for his commentary on Hot Pockets.
"I've never eaten a Hot Pocket, then afterwards been, 'I'm glad I ate that.'"
It seems many people know him for his stand-up routine concerning the food, and he seems okay with that.
“Hot Pockets is a blessing and a curse,” he said. “I get to do theater shows. I make a good living as a comedian, which I'm very grateful for. I certainly don't need more people yelling Hot Pocket at me at the airport. I don't even know how to respond. I'm usually like, 'thanks'."
For several years now, Jim Gaffigan has played sold out performances on New Year's Eve at the pabst theater. Shows are booked again for this December.
