Give dad a unique Father's Day gift...BACON
CREATED Jun. 13, 2013
MADISON - Father's Day is drawing near and if you haven't found the perfect gift to show dad how much you love him, you may want to try this new idea from Oscar Mayer, a bacon gift pack.
The company is using a You Tube video to spoof what is typically seen as the "perfect" gift for women, jewelry. The video is a nearly direct competitor to many engagement ring ads you've probably seen. Instead, Oscar Mayer invites you to buy dad a velvet gift box full of slices and "say it with bacon".
The video features Phil Roudenbusch, Oscar Mayer's bacon cut and design chief. He entices you with descriptions of the 4 C's of bacon: cut, color, cure and consistency. The play on the 4 C's of buying diamonds is hard to miss.
Each gift box is stuffed with 18-20 slices of bacon and buyers can choose between three personalized gift sets. The Commander comes with a stainless steel money-clip engraved with the words "Bringin' it Home" and an image of a bacon strip. The Matador features two bacon strip cufflinks. And The Woodsman, which includes a rugged 12 function multitool with a bacon strip image carved into the handle.
The bacon gift packs range in price from $22 to $28 and can be ordered online at www.sayitwithbacon.com. They are available in limited numbers until July.
