MILWAUKEE - Marquette University says that one of its students died after falling into a river in Rome, Italy.
According to Marquette President Fr. Scott Pilarz, S.J., Andrew Carr was studying in Rome.
He was with friends Monday night when he fell from a ledge of a river bank there.
Carr studied operations and supply chain management in the university's business college, was part of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and received several scholarships.
"His light only graced this campus for a short time, but his memory will live in his family, his friends and our Marquette community forever," said Fr. Pilarz, S.J. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Andrew’s family and friends."
The university's Campus Ministry and counseling service were also made available for those grieving Carr's loss.
