Mother speaks out about Messmer teacher accused of sexually assaulting her son
MILWAUKEE - A teacher at Messmer High School is now charged with sexually assaulting two teenage students.
Megan Garland made her first court appearance Friday.
A second boy, a 15-year-old, just came forward with word he had also been sexually assault by Megan Garland. He was a student in the teacher’s science class.
Megan Garland sat with a blank look on her face when she appeared in court, a far cry from the model teacher everyone thought she was.
We talked to the mother of one of Garland's alleged victims. Garland is charged with sexually assaulting the woman’s son and another student who attended Messmer.
“It can happen to anyone, no matter how close you are to your children, no matter how much you supervise your children,” the victim’s mom said.
The criminal complaint says the 28-year-old stuck her hands down the boy's pants and fondled him while giving him a ride home.
Garland was discovered having sex with a 14-year-old student in the parking lot of a youth center last week. Despite the charges, this mom is worried about her.
The victim’s mother wants any other possible victims to know they're not alone.
“Our children need to be educated enough to know that it's ok to speak,” she said.
She added that something like this should never had happened.
