Deputies apprehend escaped behavioral health division patient
MILWAUKEE - Thursday morning, a patient with the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division escaped from a private transportation van.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff, the escape happened around 1:00 a.m. when the van stopped around 76th and Burleigh Streets.
"The 27-year-old male was being conveyed from St. Joseph’s Hospital back to BHD by Able Access Van Services, a non-secure transport company," said Fran McLaughlin with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office.
"Multiple deputies" responded to their area, and had the man back in custody a little over an hour later.
According to McLaughlin, there have been 40 escapes from the facility since 2011.
