MILWAUKEE - School is supposed to be a safe place for kids. But one mother says Saint Sebastian’s School let her daugher down. She told TODAY's TMJ4 that an eighth grade boy inappropriately touched her daughter over and over again.
She says her daughter isn't the only victim.
“My daughter came home and confided to me that she had been abused at school and that it had been another student,” explains Anne Lapp. “It took me a while to process this information. it was a great shock to me."
Lapp's daughter went to Saint Sebastian’s School. But she doesn’t anymore.
Police are now investigating.
Lapp told me a boy at the school inappropriately touched her daughter and two other girls and that it had been going on for months.
The mother maintains she's satisfied with police’s investigation, but is concerned because the school never told other parents about the investigation.
One of the reasons the mother is upset is because the boy is still in school. However, when I asked the principal about this, he would not confirm this.
“I don't feel that the girls' rights have been protected. I feel that if they wanted to go back to school, they almost couldn't because he's there. How is that fair to them? Hnd how is that fair to the girls who are there now?" asks Lapp.
The girls are still traumatized, but are trying to recover.
“On their challenging days we just kind of sit and talk and try to discuss positive things and do things to uplift their spririts. But it's obviously a very traumatic event for them," adds Lapp.
I spoke with the District Attorney's office this afternoon.
They tell me it will be several weeks before they decide whether to charge the suspect in this case.
