MILWAUKEE - A home health care company based in Milwaukee has shut down, leaving workers without money and patients without care.
The doors are locked at Deaconess Home Health, but there's still no answer from the company about pay. And former employees are scrambling to make ends meet.
Tuesday, Isandra Roman was told to come back a day later, but they still have no answers, and no money.
“No paycheck, no money, the insurance says it’s not going to pay us,” Roman said.
Payments to the company stopped the day state and federal investigators raided its headquarters, and other companies followed suit.
The company did give notice to the state that it would shut down, but that's little consolation for caregivers who don't want to abandon their clients.
Many employees are being contacted, and asked to meet with lawyers this weekend.
