Vigil for Alexis Patterson, 11 years after her disapperance
MILWAUKEE - A sad anniversary comes Friday in Milwaukee. Eleven years ago, on May 3, a seven-year-old girl disappeared on her way to school.
People will come together for a vigil for Alexis Patterson at Hi-Mount Elementary School on North 49th Street and West Garfield Avenue in Milwaukee.
She would be 18 years old on Friday.
Her family has not been able to find closure.
On this day in 2002, her stepfather walked her to school when she disappeared.
Alexis' mother believes she's still alive.
"I know my baby's out there," said Ayanna Patterson.
"I don't have a feeling that my daughter's deceased. Lexi's coming home just like all the other missing children."
At 8:30 a.m., Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and other Sheriff's Office members were to lay a wreath in Alexis' honor.
They also continue to offer a $10,000 reward.
