MILWAUKEE - Authorities are searching for someone who shot a four-year-old child who was playing outside.
The young boy, Jemarion Kyle, was outside playing near the sidewalk with his siblings when someone opened fire, hitting the child in the arm.
It happened near the corner of North 40th and West Chambers Streets just after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
Police say the boy will survive.
Rosemary Franklin was in disbelief after seeing her grandson bleeding from a gunshot.
"As we entered the hall, I could see drops of blood," said Rosemary.
"He was screaming and crying, and I kept saying, 'Mari, are you OK?' He'll probably be shaken up for a long time."
Police believe the shooter was firing at people a few houses away.
Mayor Tom Barrett had harsh words Wednesday for the shooter.
"It's a pretty cowardly act to shoot a gun around a four-year-old kid. I hope people who know who shot this gun turns this person it," said Barrett.
Authorities don't know which direction the shooter went after the incident.
