Doctor gives tips on whether kids' injuries warrant emergency room tips
RACINE - The warm weather means more kids are playing outside, and that could lead to an increase in injuries.
But how can you tell if those injuries are just bumps and bruises or something serious?
Dr. Margaret Hennesey with Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine has some tips.
"If you see obvious deformities to an arm or leg, an obvious open fracture, those things obviously need emergency treatment," Dr. Hennesey told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jodi Becker.
Dr. Hennesey says other signs of a serious injury include loss of function or sensation.
If a child does not have these symptoms a trip to the emergency room can usually wait.
